This alternative report was presented by OBMICA and the Open Society Justice Initiative as part of the CEDAW Committee's review of the Dominican Republic, during its 55th session in Geneva in July 2013.

The report focuses on the Dominican Republic’s discriminatory practices against Haitian women and Dominican women of Haitian descent with respect to their equal rights regarding the nationality of their children, their children’s access to education, and their own access to health care. It draws on the preliminary findings of an OBMICA research project on gender and the risk of statelessness in the Dominican Republic (2013).
